Holly Sahmel

Piano (Beginning through Intermediate)
Holly has called Central Florida home since the age of five. Having nurtured and grown a life long love for music through an active public education in the arts, in high school, she enjoyed singing in several successful performing groups and as a soloist, alongside great experiences at FMEA's All-State conferences. Holly earned a B.A. in Voice from The University of South Florida, where she cultivated a love of opera, through USF's opera workshops and mainstage performances. Some of her collegiate operatic credits include the role of Prince Orlokfsky (Die Fledermaus), scenes as Blanche (Dialogues of the Carmelites), alongside appearances with USF's Bel Canto Choir as a several-time soloist and choir member under the direction of the distinguished Dr. Lynne Gackle. After college, Holly returned home to Kissimmee, where she was blessed to grow a very successful private voice and piano studio with students of all ages and experience levels for more than five years. Holly's students have enjoyed many successes including superior ratings at state & district Solo & Ensemble festivals, admittance to the heavily sought after Osceola County School of the Arts, as well as awards and recognition at their schools and in their communities. Her vocal teaching expertise also includes leading master classes and judging vocal juries as well judging All-County choir auditions. Holly teaches beginning to professional voice students, looking to grow and shape their future through music and is passionate about sharing the healthiest learning mechanisms for the voice, which includes the bel canto technique; she believes that every student should be equipped to sing any style or genre of music that they desire. As a piano teacher, Holly implements many "off the bench" learning techniques which include challenges, games and ways to keep students interested and on their toes. As a performing artist, Holly is currently vocalist with a jazz fusion trio at Trinity Lutheran in Downtown Orlando. Moreover, Holly serves on the Board of Directors for Central Florida Vocal Arts as its Director of Press and Promotion. CFVA is passionate about arts advocacy, and implemented a highly successful Summer Institute for young artists, beginning in 2013, alongside an original Choose Your Adventure style production for professional artists, which returns this November to the Wayne Densch Theatre (Sanford) and the Moonlight Players Club (Clermont). Holly has performed in CFVA's fundraising galas and onstage as Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) and as a scene Director in both 2013 and 2014. Holly also enjoys performing with the a cappella holiday quartet, Bells & Bows.

Holly Sahmel is currently not instructing any classes.
